If you have high myopia, choosing the right frame is just as important as choosing a high-index lens.
This pair of prescription glasses was made at Eyedaq Optical in Myeongdong, Seoul, using the Anne & Valentin FOREVER U104 frame and ZEISS ClearView 1.67 Brown Photochromic lenses.
Prescription
Right Eye: -7.75 -0.75
Left Eye: -7.50 -0.50
Both eyes require correction for high myopia with a small amount of astigmatism.
For prescriptions in this range, lens thickness cannot be controlled by refractive index alone. Frame size, pupil position, lens diameter, and centration all affect the final thickness and appearance of the glasses.
Anne & Valentin FOREVER U104
The FOREVER U104 by Anne & Valentin has a compact rounded shape with subtle angular lines across the upper part of the frame.
The front combines a dark Havana pattern with a black bridge and temples. Adjustable nose pads also allow the frame position to be fine-tuned according to the wearer’s facial structure.
For high myopia, the relatively compact lens shape is an important advantage.
Minus lenses are thinner in the center and become thicker toward the edges. When a large frame is used for a strong minus prescription, more of the thicker peripheral area remains after edging.
A smaller frame can help reduce the required lens diameter when the pupil position and frame measurements are suitable.
The side-view photographs show the edge thickness expected from a prescription of approximately -7.50D to -7.75D. The front rim also provides enough depth to cover part of the lens edge, helping the finished glasses look cleaner from the front and side.
ZEISS ClearView 1.67 Brown Photochromic Lenses
ZEISS ClearView 1.67 lenses were selected for this pair.
The 1.67 high-index material is suitable for stronger prescriptions where reducing lens thickness and weight is an important consideration.
The lenses also feature a brown photochromic function.
Indoors, the lenses remain relatively clear for everyday use. When exposed to UV light outdoors, they darken to a brown tint.
This allows the wearer to use one pair of prescription glasses in different environments without carrying a separate pair of prescription sunglasses.
The brown tint also works well with the Havana-colored front of the Anne & Valentin FOREVER U104. When the lenses darken outdoors, the lens color and frame color create a consistent brown tone.
Photochromic performance can vary depending on UV exposure, temperature, and the surrounding environment. Inside a vehicle, the lenses may not become as dark as they do outdoors because the windshield blocks a significant amount of UV light.
Precise Centration with ZEISS VISUFIT 1000
The optical center was measured using the ZEISS VISUFIT 1000 digital centration system.
Accurate centration becomes more important as the prescription increases.
For high myopia, the relationship between the pupil position and the optical center of the lens should be carefully checked. The frame is measured while it is positioned on the wearer’s face, allowing the lenses to be ordered and edged according to the actual wearing position.
At Eyedaq Optical, we consider frame size, pupil position, lens diameter, prescription, and final lens thickness together when making glasses for high myopia.
Who Is This Combination Suitable For?
This combination is worth considering if you:
Have a prescription around -7.00D or stronger
Prefer a compact frame rather than an oversized design
Want to reduce unnecessary lens edge thickness
Need prescription glasses for both indoor and outdoor use
Prefer brown photochromic lenses instead of carrying separate sunglasses
Are looking for Anne & Valentin or ZEISS prescription lenses in Seoul
For strong prescriptions, choosing a smaller frame does not automatically guarantee thin lenses. The frame must also match the wearer’s pupil position and facial measurements.
This is why frame selection and centration should be considered together.
This Anne & Valentin FOREVER U104 was paired with ZEISS ClearView 1.67 Brown Photochromic lenses to create prescription glasses suitable for daily use while keeping the high-myopia lens thickness under control.
If you are visiting Seoul and need prescription glasses for high myopia, Eyedaq Optical in Myeongdong can help you select a frame and lens combination based on your prescription, facial measurements, and intended use.
