VISUFIT 1000 uses multiple cameras to capture the relationship between the eyes, face, and eyeglass frame in three dimensions.
This is especially useful for wraparound sports eyewear.
With ordinary eyeglasses, basic pupillary distance measurements may sometimes be sufficient. With sports eyewear, however, the frame often sits at a different angle and position.
From an optician’s perspective, understanding the actual wearing position is important when determining lens centration.
A customer may have the correct prescription but still experience discomfort if the optical centers are not properly positioned for the way the frame sits on the face.
That is why prescription sports eyewear should be treated as a complete combination of prescription, frame, lens material, fitting, and lens positioning.
Advantages and Limitations of the Rudy Project Deltabeat
The Deltabeat has several advantages for prescription users.
It is lightweight, has an adjustable nosepiece, offers a secure sports-oriented fit, and supports Rudy Project’s dedicated Optical Dock prescription system.
The design is also clearly sporty. The angular lens shape, black frame, and grey Optical Dock give it a technical appearance that works well with running and cycling equipment.
There are, however, some points to consider.
Because the Optical Dock is visible from the outside, the appearance is slightly different from a one-piece shield-style sports sunglass.
