Why We Use Polycarbonate Prescription Lenses
These goggles are fitted with prescription lenses made from polycarbonate.
Polycarbonate is lightweight and highly resistant to impact, making it more suitable for active sports than many standard plastic lens materials. It is especially useful for sports eyewear that may be exposed to sudden movement, accidental drops, or contact during a game.
However, polycarbonate should not be described as completely unbreakable. The condition of the lens can still be affected by its thickness, prescription, processing method, and the strength of an impact. Accurate lens fitting and regular inspection are therefore important.
Ventilation Holes to Reduce Lens Fogging
Sports goggles fit more closely around the face than regular eyeglasses. During exercise, body heat and perspiration can remain inside the frame and cause the lenses to fog.

Even Mild Myopia Can Affect Sports Performance
Both sports goggles in this case were made for prescriptions below approximately -2.00 diopters.
This may be considered relatively mild myopia, but clear distance vision is still important on a large soccer field or basketball court. Players need to recognize the movement of the ball, the position of teammates, and changes in the surrounding environment quickly.
Prescription correction can be especially helpful for goalkeepers, futsal players, basketball players, and children participating in school sports.
Sports goggles also sit differently from regular eyeglasses. The lens angle, distance between the eyes and lenses, frame curvature, and wearing position may all be different. For this reason, simply copying an existing eyeglass prescription may not always provide the best result.
