Overseas Customer Visits EYEDAQ After Reading Google Maps Reviews – Two Cartier Progressive Glasses Made in Myeongdong
The eyewear featured in this post was made for an overseas visitor from the Middle East.
While traveling in Korea, the customer found EYEDAQ Optical through Google Maps, carefully reviewed our customer reviews and photos, and then visited our store in Myeongdong, Seoul.
For international visitors, choosing an optical store in another country is not always easy because they cannot experience the service in advance. For this reason, many overseas customers carefully check Google Maps reviews, photos, and other customer experiences before deciding where to visit.
This customer selected two Cartier eyeglass frames.
Both are titanium semi-rimless frames, but their colors and design details create noticeably different impressions when worn.
The First Frame: Cartier CT0348O 001 Gold
The Cartier CT0348O 001 comes in size 55□19-145 and features a rectangular semi-rimless design made from titanium.
A closer look reveals fine repeated line patterns around the bridge and hinge areas. This is Cartier’s signature gadroon detailing, which adds a distinctive character compared with a simple gold metal frame.
The upper section of the lenses is supported by the gold-colored metal frame, while the lower section is held in place with a nylon cord.
This semi-rimless construction maintains the refined presence of a metal frame while giving the lower part of the lenses a lighter and cleaner appearance.
The relatively straight, rectangular lens shape is another important feature.
Compared with round frames, this shape creates a more structured and sophisticated impression, making it particularly suitable for customers who prefer formal, business, or classic styling.
The Second Frame: Cartier CT0554O 004 Black
The Cartier CT0554O 004 comes in size 56□18-145 and is also a titanium semi-rimless frame.
This model is associated with the Santos de Cartier collection and is characterized by its black finish and distinctive screw details around the bridge.
Compared with the CT0348O, the lens width is 1 mm wider, while the bridge is 1 mm narrower.
Although the numerical difference may seem small, the overall appearance is quite different because of the frame design and color.
While the gold CT0348O offers a more classic and luxurious look, the black CT0554O creates a more understated and contemporary impression.
The black frame gives the eyewear a clearly defined outline on the face without appearing overly decorative, making it highly versatile for everyday wear.
Progressive Lens Prescription
The customer’s progressive lens prescription was as follows:
Right Eye: +1.00
Left Eye: +1.25
ADD: +2.25
This prescription requires plus power for distance vision, with an additional +2.25 diopters for near vision.
When producing progressive lenses with this level of addition, simply fitting lenses into the frame is not enough.
Progressive lenses are designed so that the upper part of the lens is primarily used for distance vision, the middle section for intermediate vision, and the lower section for near vision.
For this reason, accurately measuring the pupil position, fitting height, and horizontal optical center while the customer is actually wearing the frame is extremely important.
Even with exactly the same prescription, the experience of wearing progressive lenses can change depending on whether the frame sits higher or lower on the nose.
This is also why, when two different pairs of glasses are made for the same customer, each frame should be individually measured while being worn.
ZEISS Progressive Photochromic Lenses
For both Cartier frames, we used ZEISS progressive lenses with photochromic functionality.
One of the biggest advantages of photochromic lenses is that a single pair of glasses can be used both indoors and outdoors.
Indoors, the lenses remain relatively clear, similar to ordinary prescription glasses.
When the wearer moves outdoors, the lenses react to surrounding light conditions and become darker. After returning indoors, they gradually become clear again.
The degree and speed of darkening can vary depending on the type of lens, temperature, UV exposure, and surrounding light conditions.
The before-and-after images of the gold Cartier CT0348O clearly demonstrate the difference.
When the lenses are clear, the gold frame and Cartier gadroon detailing are particularly visible, creating the appearance of elegant everyday eyeglasses.
Once the lenses darken, however, the combination of the gold frame and tinted lenses gives the glasses an appearance much closer to sunglasses.
The Same Prescription, Two Different Styles
Although both pairs were made with the same prescription and similar lens functions, the customer selected two distinctly different frame styles.
The Cartier CT0348O 001 Gold is well suited to those who prefer a classic and refined gold titanium frame.
The Cartier CT0554O 004 Black is a better choice for customers who prefer understated black metal eyewear with a more modern and minimal appearance.
Progressive glasses cannot be completed simply by choosing a premium frame and high-quality lenses.
Accurate vision testing and prescription, proper frame selection, precise measurements in the actual wearing position, lens processing, and final fitting all need to work together.
This becomes even more important when an overseas customer visits Korea to have glasses made.
After returning home, the customer will use the glasses for a much longer period than the time spent in Korea, so every detail should be checked carefully during the initial fitting and production process.
